Pleasure Anarchy: Affirmations for feeling good in a world that tells us pleasure is bad.
I rage against the idea that pleasure should be earned. We are hurling through space on a rock that’s smaller than a grain of sand in the grand scheme of a universe that’s constantly expanding while slowly being crushed by gravity and we will all eventually die. Yet, most of us have collectively learned that feeling good needs to be earned? Eat the food, take the nap, float in the lake, have all the orgasms. You’ve already earned it. Your existence on this planet is enough.
Have you created a pleasure manifesto?
Here’s mine.
- I listen to my body and trust that its size, shape, needs and desires are all working in my benefit.
- Every body is worthy of feeling good. Any belief that prioritizes and values the pleasure of certain bodies over others, will be promptly put in the trash and killed with fire.
- I speak up for what I need and what I want and I encourage others (especially women) to do the same.
- I fill my own cup. Not so I can pour into others, but for the sake of having a cup that is full.
- Pleasure is an end in itself.
- I do not apologize for taking care of myself in the ways that I need and want, even though other’s…
